Meet David Veile

Family

I was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. My mother is a retired public elementary school teacher and my father is a retired letter carrier. I learned early on what it means to have a heart for service.

I was fortunate to meet the love of my life in junior high youth group and we recently celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary. We have twin daughters who are both juniors in college, and our son is a sophomore at Franklin High School. We are lucky to be surrounded by family, including our parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who are close enough to call family.

Education

After graduating from Hume Fogg Academic Magnet High School in Nashville, I attended the University of Memphis. My original plan was to complete my undergraduate studies and then immediately attend law school. Unfortunately, my then-fiancée was involved in a terrible car accident, and I withdrew from my studies for one semester to help care for her. The following fall, we married, and I completed my studies at Middle Tennessee State University. As a young married couple, we were not in a position financially for me to immediately begin law school, so I followed my proclivity for public service and joined the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department as a police officer.

I served as a Metro Nashville police officer and sergeant for seven years.  I initially served as a patrol officer; however, I could not ignore my original plan to become an attorney.  After much consideration, I elected to attend law school on a part-time basis at the Nashville School of Law, while continuing to serve as a Metro police officer. I eventually transferred to become a law instructor at the Metro Nashville Police Academy. In 2004, I graduated from the Nashville School of Law with honors, ranked third in my graduating class.
